Nevada Paycheck Calculator 2026
No state income tax on wages in Nevada — federal tax and FICA are the whole story below.
Nevada withholds no state income tax - the constitution forbids one on wages. Your stub carries federal lines only, which makes the federal side of the calculation the whole story. Here is what actually leaves a Nevada paycheck in 2026.

Nevada withholding rates for 2026
Nevada levies no state income tax on wages in 2026, so there is no state withholding table to publish. What is withheld from a Nevada paycheck is federal, plus any state payroll program listed above.
The taxes Nevada does collect are billed to your employer
Nevada funds itself without touching wages: gaming, sales, and taxes on business. Two of those look like payroll taxes and are not. The Modified Business Tax is charged on the wages a company pays, and unemployment insurance is an employer contribution - both are the employer’s bill, neither is deducted from your pay. So a Nevada stub has no state line at all: federal income tax, Social Security to the annual cap, Medicare without a cap, and that is the list.
Where the money actually goes instead
Zero income tax is not zero tax. Nevada leans on sales tax and on tourism, which is why the state can be gentle on a paycheck and less gentle at the register. For a mover comparing offers, the useful comparison is not the salary but the take-home: run the same number through California or Oregon and the gap is the real raise - or the real cut.
One consequence people miss: with no state withholding to smooth things out, your federal W-4 is doing all the work. If you moved from a taxed state mid-year, the old state may still want a return for the months you lived there, even though Nevada wants nothing for the rest.
No state income tax, and no local wage tax either. Your Nevada stub shows federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare - nothing from the state.
What is the Modified Business Tax I keep reading about?
A tax on the wages a business pays, owed by the employer. It never appears as a deduction on an employee's pay stub, and it does not reduce your take-home.
I moved to Nevada in the middle of the year. What happens?
Nevada asks nothing, but the state you left generally taxes the income you earned while living there, so you may still file a part-year return with that state. Nothing changes on the Nevada side.
Could Nevada introduce an income tax?
Not without amending its constitution, which bars a tax on the wages or personal income of natural persons. That is a considerably higher bar than passing a bill.

Nevada Department of Taxation, Modified Business Tax(secondary source) — Nevada levies no personal income tax and therefore requires no state income tax withholding from wages; the state's employer-side taxes (Modified Business Tax on wages paid, unemployment insurance) are paid BY the employer and are not deducted from employee pay.
